Yes, but mostly for the picnic food and fireworks.

Potato salad.

Yes, I like the Daily Show and the BBC for news.

4) Do you vote?
Yup.

5) Would you have fought in the revolutionary war?
Maybe, but probably not since I'm not a white man ;)

Friday Five of Soothing

1) What music soothes you? (an artist, genre, song, etc.)
I love Carlos Nakai, who does Native American flute music. I also like the Killer's When You Were Young right now, played loud and cathartic.

2) Do you use scents for relaxation, if so which ones? (essential oils, bath salts, food, candles)
I love candle and bath salts with things like ylang-ylang and mint. I like cooking as creative expression, the smell of vanilla always gets me.

3) Do you ever get massage, acupuncture or do yoga?
I try to get massage regularly for health reasons.

4) Which friend(s) or family members do you go to for support and love?
I go to my sister and my fella Eric. I also talk to my aunt and uncle sometimes.

5) If you could go anywhere to relax where would it be?
Somewhere warm and beautiful. Maybe a jacuzzi with aromatic scents emanating or a natural place that's breathtaking. If I could be transported to fall in the northeast I'd like that too.

Sometimes. I hope there are angels out there watching over us.

2) What is your favorite magical creature? (unicorn, phoenix, gnomes, pegasus)
I like gnomes and phoenixes. Gnomes because they are little and homey like me and phoenixes because I am always aspiring to renew.

3) Did you believe in the tooth fairy, Santa or the Easter Bunny as a child?
I loved the idea of them, but I never really bought it.

4) Do you believe in fairies? (clap your hands ;)
Yes! (clap, clap, clap!)

5) Do you like fairy tales or fantasy stories?
I Iove them. I like the imagination, beauty and mythology.

1) What is the last movie you saw and did you like it?
Hmmmm, I think the last film I saw in the theatre was Star Trek, which as good, but not as good as Wolverine.

2) What was one of your favorite films as a child?
Labyrinth was my favorite film. It was full of magic, singing and it's a good story about facing your fears. I look back and think David Bowie looked silly in spandex, but hey, it's David Bowie.

3) Do you like scary movies?
Not at all.

4) What type(s) of films do you like best? (comedy, documentary, history)
I like documentaries, comedies and movies that are a bit lighter.

5) What film(s) have inspired you?
I love Spirited Away.

The dining area where people hang out and eat tasty food.

I feel at home with my sister. I know she'll always be my friend and sister no matter what happens.

Red, light blue and a little pink.

4) If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I don't know if I have a place in mind. I would just live in a nice house with lots of color and loving people.

I want to celebrate the friends and love I have in my life.

Yes! I love it. I think it's a grat way to celebrate existence.

I do. I love color and light.

4) What's one of your favorite ways to celebrate a big event in you life? (A party with lots of friends, a reward of quiet relaxation, going out on the town, presents?)

I like a big part with good food and great friends.

5) When did you last go to a party and what was it for?

This week I went to a friend's birthday party, a vegetarian potluck. Last weekend I went to an engagement party for two beautiful friends who are getting married!!! Yay!

I think it's important to be loving, discerning and stable.

I see my friends almost every weekend.

It's my friend Rachel's birthday and she is having a Bollywood theme party.

Yes I do. It's a good reminder that we're all part of something, that the Earth is our home and we need to take care of it.

Yes. I like bright greens.

Awesome, complex, strange, wondrous, challenging and interesting place.

Wet, vast, mysterious.

My favorite thing is being vegetarian. It is good for the environment, our fellow Earthy animals and for me!

Friday Five of Family!

1) Do you have any brother or sisters?
I have one sister. Her name is Melissa and she is awesome.

2) What holidays do you spend with family?
Well, I spend a lot of holidays with my Tao/ spiritual family. I'd like to spend Passover, but it's hard to get to the east coast. I spent New Year's and Christmas with friends and my sister.

3) Which relative(s) do you talk to most?
My sister and my aunt and uncle. I was close to my grandma before she passed.

4) Do you have any pets in your family?
No, but we always had doggies growing up.

5) Did you have special family traditions growing up? (vacations, games, tooth fairies?)
We did have the tooth fairy and the standard canon of fictional beings. My sister and I used to make up musicals and plays and put on funny costumes.

I love poetry! All kinds.

2) Who is your favorite poet(s)?
Neruda, Rumi, Shakespeare.

3) Have you ever written poetry?
I writes it alls the time. I love it. It is one of my favorite modes of expression.

4) Do you like rhyme?
I do, it's true. Poems don't need to rhyme, and it's gone out of fashion, but I still like seeing how a poet can use it to enhance the mood.

1) What do you like about Springtime?
I love the new energy that fill the air. There's an excitement. I like how active the Earth feels.

2) What is your favorite flower(s)?
I love roses and sunflowers :)

3) What do you like to do in warm weather?
I like to go on walks and have picnics.

4) Do you like daylight savings time?
Yes I do. I like the extra light :) I don't like losing the hour, but the long day is good.

Cleaning is very healing. I don't always do Spring cleaning, but I like to get rid of things throughout the year.

Oooh! Foods!

1) What did you have for breakfast?
Hummus and rice crackers.

2) Have you grown your own food?
When I was little we had a giant garden that took up half of our suburban backyard. We grew tomatoes, kale, string beans, melons, peppers, squash and more. Then I had my own herb garden when I got older. When I moved to LA I had a very small garden but it mostly was eaten by voracious ants!

3) What is your favorite beverage?
I like water, especially if it's sparkly, after that I really like tea.

4) Do you like to cook?
Oh yes! I love being creative with food. It's an art to me and a way to express and share love.

5) What is your favorite vegetable(s)?
Ooh! That's tough. I like red, yellow and orange peppers very much.

Friday Five of Superstition

1) Do you have a lucky charm? (socks, coins, small rubber chickens?)
Hmmm...I have a necklace of Buddha that I wear most days and it brings me a sense of peace and reminds me to look to the Buddha nature and True Heart. i also think it gives me a little extra luck ;)

2) Have you ever found a four-leaf clover? (and what happened?)
Yes I did. i remember finding these all the time in high school. I guess we spent a lot of time sitting on the grass chatting it up. I don't remember anything directly happening, but I did have a really great high school.

3) Do you throw coins into fountains for wishes?
I used to, but haven't in a long time. Now I mostly wish on my own heart.

4) Do you have any quirky or unique superstitions?
I still don't like to pick up coins on the tails side.

5) Have you ever seen a shooting star? (did you make a wish?)
Yes, I have. I find if you are patient and stare into the clear night sky you will see them. I find it magical. But, you know those stars faded so long ago. Of course, I still make wishes. I find shooting stars a good enough cause, they're cosmic and it seems like a better bet than the coins and eyelashes.

Cinnamon was our golden retriever and she was so sweet and awesome.

We had really awesome toys called pipeworks that you could build things with.

Yes, I have one sister named Melissa.

I liked Candyland and we would also play a game pretending we were spies.

Yes, it was a giant panda bear :)

Hello Lovelies!

Here's my Friday Five from the Team blog :)

1) What have you bought recently?
I bought carrots :) I mostly buy food. I'm not a big shopper. The last thing I bought was a book on Bodhidharma, who is awesome. You should read it.

2) Which special object(s) hold meaning for you?
The things I have from my Grandma who passed away some years ago.

3) What was the last present you gave?
I just bought the Bodhidharma book for my friend's birthday present. But, the last I gave was Zhena's Gypsy tea and apple butter to Jacqui and Aaron.

4) What little things make your life easier?
Can openers. Lamps. Blankets.

5) Do you like to throw things away?
Yes, I like to clean things out even though it's a struggle with attachment!
