1) How did you celebrate the New Year?
I had friends over at my place :) They danced and had a lovely time. There was a disco ball and vegan rice krispies treats!

2) What new thing(s) do you want to do this year?
I want to travel somewhere new and make new friends.

3) What is one of your goals for 2009?
I want to follow my True Heart and learn.

4) What do you wish for the world?
More wisdom, clarity and true love.

5) What do you hope to nourish in your own life?
Connections and understanding of the world.

Relax with the Friday Five!

1) What do you love to do in your free time?
I write poetry, cook, listen to music, read or watch movies. I also love going to veggie restaurants with friends. 

2) What music helps you relax?
I love jazz. Stan Getz always makes me feel a bit better.

3) What movie did you enjoy recently?
I just watched the Duchess, but it was sad and not very relaxing. But, right before that I watched Kung Fu Panda! It was awesome and beautiful. The acting is great and it's very funny and positive. 

4) Who makes you laugh?
My sister Melissa :)

5) Where do you go/ do to recharge? 
I like dancing, so sometimes I go by myself and just enjoy it.

Beautiful Friday Five

1) What do you think is beautiful about the Earth?
The lovely green leaves on the trees and it’s wonderful roundness!

2) What animal(s) do you think are beautiful?
Almost all of them, but if I had to pick I’d say giraffes and bears.

3) What are your favorite flowers?
I like sunflowers and roses. 

4) Do you like to watch sunset or sunrise?
I love both but I live on the West coast where the sun sets and I’m rarely up for sunrise, so I have to say sunset. We have some amazing ones out here. 

5) What makes your life more beautiful?

Friday Five and a Changing World

1) What political/ historic figures have inspired you?
Malcolm X for his audacity, integrity and willingness to change. Nelson Mandela for sticking it out.

2) Did this week's inaugural events in the USA impact you?
Yes! I was there in DC. It was awesome. I was so happy to be part of such a monumentous event in history. I imagine I will always remember it.

3) What do you think is an important trait(s) for leadership?
Integrity, discernment, self-composure, courage and understanding of the human condition.

4) Do politics interest you?
Yes. I was an International Affairs major in college.

5) Do you like to read the news?
I do, but in moderation because sometimes it’s too much to carry the problems of the world. But, I like to know a bit and stay connected with the rest of the world. I generally read from the BBC.

Express Your Friday Five!

1) How do you like to express yourself? (words, actions, writing, song?)
I like to write and sing!

2) What songs/ music inspires you?
I love a lot of different music. for some reason, right now I’m totally into Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know song. I also LOVE jazz.

3) Do you like museums?
I do, but I get overloaded if they are too big. Sometimes it’s hard to take in that much at once.

4) What is your favorite color(s)?
I like pink and then anything bright and lustrous.

5) What kind of art or décor do you have at home?
I have a lot of Asian art in my living room because of the Tao altar and such, in other rooms I have some more abstract stuff with bright colors and shiny bits.
