Barack Obama on Race and the Future of America

Posted on Mar 19th, 2008 by Jessica : The Evolutionary Connector - Gaia Jessica
I'm very impressed by his honesty, courage and eloquence in this speech. Take a look and see what you think. It's a bit long, but I think it's worth it to watch the whole thing.

Go easy on the Obama worship, folks. Soon a lot of people are going to be badly disappointed when he turns out to be human after all. This race speech is coming from a man who, either directly or indirectly, mentions his own race in every speech he gives. Methinks something ain't right here.

I'd never worship this guy, but I really like what he says, he can ad lib and not screw up as badly as Hillary has done.  I'll be putting his bumper sticker over Hillary's because he should be the president  and not McCain, or McCrazy. Ron Paul seems like a very intelligent and sensable leader, but he doesn't have the support to win over McCain.
Re: Sen. McCain–
No one mentions much how he 'accidentally' killed 145 sailors on the USS Forrester ship when he dropped missiles from his plane or how he revealed to the VietCong information his fellow POWs didn't reveal. So he has a history of treason worse than any slanderous remarks made against Jane Fonda during the 1960s.

The only danger Obama has is not so much from the KKK or the other racist white groups, but by the Black Muslims who executed the great Malcolm X.

I'll pray that he wins and is not attacked as the dullard idiot GeoW Bush has skated by these last 8 yrs.  Bush/Cheney must be impeached to show the world we eventually get the criminals, although this is sadly 7 yrs too late.
And with McCain jokingly singing he wants to “Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran”  we need an intelligent democrat who has some knowledge of America's history, even the bad parts.

This is what GeoW Bush said about the Constitution and Bill of Rights about 5 years ago:  “It's just a g-damned piece of old paper.”  As Naomi Wolf wrote in her latest book, Bush's outline has meshed with the plans of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy and needs to be stopped!

Sure Obama is only human, but people like Bush and McCain are sub-human since greed and their Haliburton million dollar contracts lead them on.

People will believe whatever they want to believe, regardless of the simple truth. If you honestly think Bush said that about the Constitution, then there's not going to be much anyone can say to dissuade you. The Halliburton contract will be a liberal talking point for eternity, but as someone who was personally involved in that whole contracting mess, I can assure you that it was never what people have made it out to be, and it never had jack to do with Bush or Cheney, regardless of what you've read in the blogs, etc. Sometimes reality is a little more centered than that.

If you think Obama doesn't screw up his ad-libs, then you must believe that 10,000 people died in one Kansas tornado, and probably a dozen other “misstatements” that have been made by Obama. McCain makes just as many, but he's so wishy-washy that it's not even news any more.

And by the way, McCain didn't “drop missiles” on the deck of the carrier (not possible). A fuel fire, which wasn't his fault, detonated his ordnance on the deck. Not a McCain supporter, just trying to clear up some misinformation.

My point is that we need to look at these things without prior judgment, as much as possible. All three candidates (never mind about Ron Paul, but this pertains to him too) will have serious flaws, because they're human beings, making their way through samsara just like the rest of us. I think we should be careful of how we either support them or bash them. OK, I'm done ranting, thanks for reading. Much love to ya!

Whew…intense political debate over here!

And, scruff, I agree we should look at things with a beginner's mind :) I know they're all human. I'm just intrigued by the possibility of having someone who I think is a pretty good person in office. But, once they get into office, we don't know what will happen. And, being President exposes you to all kinds of influences. I don't believe in the perfect leader, they are all products of our society and the people who live in it.

So we shall see, we shall see…

So, Scruff, who is Sam Sara and where are they on this debate?

We can't just sit 1/2 lotus and tinkle bells for peace when bastards like McCrazy are panting at the door to bomb Iran and pull up every drop of oil over more dead bodies! Sen McCrazy is equal to more years of Bush and Cheney who are both 100% evil, inhuman,  and responsible for everything bad in this country!  If I was a better shot….

Sam Sara - cute

Babs, nothing but respect for your views and your opinion, which of course I recognize as every bit as valid as mine. But to say that anyone is inhuman or 100% evil is the kind of thing that will factionalize you and will cause others to hesitate in taking your opinion seriously. I mean some people, not all others, or course.
We talk a lot about war and about how many people have to die for oil. I understand all this, of course, as I'm living in this world too. But that doesn't mean that we all necessarily understand the geopolitical causes for something like a major war, does it? If we've gone through all of this over oil, then where is it? Wouldn't that have brought our gas prices down at least a little? The law of supply and demand?
Anyway I'm not suggesting that Bush & Cheney are good for this country (or anyone else), so please don't miss my point. But calling McCain “McCrazy”, while funny, isn't helping anything. Please remember that these people are all just people, and at the end of the day are struggling with their own issues just like you and I are.

One further note. Please refrain from making references to assassination while you're talking to me (as in, “if I were a better shot…”). I support the President of the United States [because these are imperfect people who need all the support they can get, just like me], whoever he or she is, and will not abide such threats, even if you think it's funny.

Thanks, and again, much love to ya! (I mean that, by the way)
