Smiles...

I just posted our Team blog and was thinking about smiles. I love this song and I think it has a great message.
Did you know Charlie Chaplin wrote this song? Nat King Cole is famous for it, but Chaplin wrote it for his classic film Modern Times. It's perfect for the Tramp because he's always having a difficult time, but still manages to bring humor, joy and love into the world. Something to admire.
It reminds me of Maitreya Buddha actually. He's the big fat happy Buddha. He's the future Buddha of love (meaning he wasn't a person). He's not Siddhartha who was skinny and is famous for all those sutras and sayings. What most people might not know is that Maitreya is so fat because he carries the weight of the world. He often has a big sack at his shoulder too. But, even with this weight, he always smiles joyfully because he know the Truth and sees the True nature of all beings and of all suffering. He's my greatest role-model.

Hi, Jessica - I identify with what you say about Maitreya Buddha. I also tend to see lots of whimsy in the multiverse - which is expressed by my current icon.

This was a good song to listen to tonight! He's your greatest role model, Jessica? He certainly has given lots to the world…. Thank you!!
I'm smiling though my heart is aching.
Will the sun come shining through?
Paul
Thanks for the comments!
Sylvia, I love your icon. :)
Centria, I am glad you enjoyed the song. Maitreya Buddha, not Chaplin is my greatest hero because of the love and wisdom he symbolizes, along with his ability to carry so much for others.
Paul, the Sun is always shining, even when we don't see it. That's the beauty of the Sun.
Oh wow! That's one of my favorites! I loved playing that tune on the piano and I believe I can still play it given a chance. Blessings, Jessica! And thank you for the added infos. Hugs!
Wonderful! There is a great flick - “Chaplin” - with Robert Downey Jr as the Chaplin. Watched it again just a few months ago.
I've had a laughing/fat “Budei” Maitreya Buddha statue on my desk for almost 10 years now it and it always makes me Smile too :)
